Harlequinade

Harleen Quinzel started out as a psychologist working at Arkham Asylum. She became very interested in the Joker's case and after pulling a few strings, she got a session with him. He easily tricked her into showing sympathy for him and he then twisted her mind into believing that she "loves" him. Quickly adapting the new name, "Harley Quinn" as a play on words for "Harlequin"as well as her real name, the woman dressed as a harlequin and sprung the Joker from Arkham and they became partners in crime!

No relationship is perfect, but the Joker continuously beats on Harley, and the question always pops up, "Why doesn't she just leave him?" Well, not only is she basically brainwashed by the man, but the woman holds her own pretty well against him. She even attempts to kill him by shooting him in the head!

Harley always has a smile, and gun waiting for the Batman's next move. Especially with a few friends at her side, including two hyenas and a best friend, Poison Ivy

The two women became Gotham's "Queens of Crime"  and pulled off incredible heists together! But Poison Ivy's extreme feminist ways were a little too much for Harley, seeing as she always missed the Joker when he was away.

Harley is  my favorite Batman villain for many reasons!
One being that she is almost more of a victim to Joker's schemes than she is a villain herself. She doesn't have much regard for human life, but she always laughs everything off, as if she has not a care in the world. I love the fact that she is actually brilliant and an expert on mental disorders, and even though she's been practically brainwashed and is sometimes clueless, she's a genius and every once-in-a-while it shows through.

Another great thing about her is that she is completely covered! The only skin she even shows is her face, which is still covered in make-up! Which is why I am a little sad when I see certain halloween costumes for her, and especially the "modernized" costumes for her in the recent video games for Batman.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool that they modernized her look and she still looks beautiful and all that...

but I wish they stayed a little bit more true to her character.

Why?

BECAUSE  HARLEY IS AWESOME

  1. Yeah, I think once DC realized that comic book readers began having Harley fetishes, they realized they could get away with 'undressing' her. Sad really, because she was cool before they 'sexified' her.
Is she my favorite Batman villain? No, but she is full of awesome.

My favorite is Bane (a bit cliche to say the Joker) because he broke the bat. He wasn't just a muscle bound idiot, he was smart and calculating and straight up beat Batman in a fight. Which not many people can claim to do.

  2. I love Bane too! He's quite epic. And I agree that saying "Joker" is a little over-done.
